B. Sc. Chemistry

Our Chemistry degree program offers potential students a chance to have an experimental and theoretical understanding of chemistry in the contemporary world. In this course, you will expect to do a lot of research, within a teaching context, going beyond just physical, organic and inorganic chemistry to the use of computational methods for chemistry. The course is aimed at training the next generation of eloquent, resilient chemists for a wide range of possible future occupations such as jobs with the pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotech industry and spreading out to even other seemingly unrelated industries such as media and finance. The course is accredited by the NUC and our research-infused teaching will be delivered by well-educated researchers and scientists.

Southwestern University Faculty of Sciences

The aim of the course is to provide graduates with an opportunity to cultivate a career in the budding aspects of chemistry such as biomedical research, chemical biology, nanotechnology and biotech. The university is equipped with adequate teaching laboratories and research facilities to provide students with a world-class education in the field of chemistry.

As students garner more laboratory experience, they would be given the chance to carry out open-ended research and try out various solutions to issues related to chemistry. By doing this, students master numerous analytical techniques that would be much needed in the professional world. After their BSC, students may choose to further their education by taking on chemistry-related graduate courses such as chemical engineering, pharmacology, nanotechnology, etc.

The minimum entry requirement for admission into the Chemistry program at Southwestern University are:

Credit level passes in 5 relevant subjects at (SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) O’ Level result or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings and with JAMB/JUPEP/IJMB/OND/HND, Advance Level result.

UTME REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must sit for the current JAMB UTME exams and attain the National cut off mark as a statutory requirement for entry into a Nigerian University.
