A BSc in Physics from the South-western University of Nigeria will give you an understanding of the important aspects of physics including areas such as nuclear physics, relativity, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics and fields and waves. During the course of your study, you’ll get the chance to carry out serious research projects, which will give you a basic understanding of scientific research and enhance your teamwork and organizational skills for the future.

The Department of Physics is a lively research community, gearing up to partake in ground-breaking projects in such global fields as laser science, string theory, materials and particle physics, the origins of the universe, thermonuclear fusion, etc.

During the course of your study, you would be subjected to occasional assessments such as tests, examinations which include both written exams, and occasionally laboratory examinations, lab reports, coursework and class presentations.

Industries that employ physics graduates are many and include the Armed Forces,  energy and renewable energy, academic institutions, government research organizations, manufacturing, health and medicine, science and telecommunications, aerospace and defence, engineering nanotechnology, education, oil and gas, meteorology and climate change. Graduates of Physics can also choose to practice in industries not closely related to their course of study. Some of these industries include banking and finance, transport, law, consultancy, software and accountancy. 

The minimum entry requirement for admission into the Physics program at Southwestern University are:

Credit level passes in 5 relevant subjects at (SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) O’ Level result or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings and with JAMB/JUPEP/IJMB/OND/HND, Advance Level result.

UTME REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must sit for the current JAMB UTME exams and attain the National cut off mark as a statutory requirement for entry into a Nigerian University.
